Crosswinds Cornbread

This cornbread is an excellent with both our beef stew and our bean and beef chili.

Ingredients

  • (1 C) Cornmeal
  • (1 C) All Purpose Flour
  • (1 Tbsp) Baking Powder
  • (1/4 C) Granulated Sugar
  • (1 Can) Creamed Corn
  • (1/2 C) Melted Butter
  • (3/4 C) Crosswinds Whole Milk
  • (1 Tbsp) Softened Butter (to grease pan)

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 375*
  • Place the Dry Ingredients in a bowl and mix.
  • Place Wet ingredients in a separate bowl and mix until combined.
  • Pour Wet into the Dry ingredients, mix until combined.
  • Grease 10-12" Cast Iron skilled with 1 tbsp of butter to coat the base and halfway up the sides.
  • Pour the batter in, smooth surface.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the top is light golden brown and a skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean (or when you poke the top, it springs back).
  • Cool 15 minutes in the skillet before turning out onto serving platter or cutting board.


Serve warm.
