FAQs

How does a Whole Beef order work?

A $200 deposit reserves your Whole Beef for processing. We’ll pick up your meat from the processor and contact you to schedule the fulfillment of your order. As we are reserving a steer for you, deposits are non-refundable. Your meat will come dry aged, vacuum sealed and frozen from our processor.

What kinds of cuts are included?

A Whole Beef order can include all of your favorites: a variety of steaks, roasts, stew meat, ground beef, patties, ribs and nose-to-tail cuts like soup bones, marrow bones and organs.  Check out our Beef Cut Sheet for a more detailed look at the cuts available for your customized culinary experience. We are happy to help you through the selection process and make recommendations.

How much will a Whole Beef cost?

The cost of the Whole Beef is determined by the hanging weight of the animal, at our best price of $5.00/lb, which includes processing costs. The estimated final cost of a Whole Beef ranges from $2,500-$3,750, depending on the size of the animal and your custom cuts. Your $200 deposit will be applied to the total cost.

Here’s an example: for a 1,000 lb steer, the average hanging weight is 610 lbs and the total cost will be around $3,050. After trimming, you’ll take home an estimated 408 lbs of meat including bones and organs.

How much meat will I receive?

The weight of each steer can vary widely, so we provide an estimated range of 285 - 500 lbs of cut and wrapped meat after trimming and processing. We highly recommend taking home the nutritious beef bones and organs offered to you to get the most value from your whole animal purchase.

For how long will a Whole Beef feed my family?

A Whole Beef is a great option for a large family or for two smaller families to share.  With a whole beef purchase, a family of 5 can enjoy a meal with beef 4-6 times per week for a year. That’s 1,140 to 1,710 individual 4 oz servings!

Can I Customize My Order?

Yes! With a Whole Beef, you have the opportunity to customize, such as steak thickness and servings per package. We recommend making the most of your order by including nutritious bones and organs. Once you place your order, you’ll complete this Beef Cut Sheet. We are happy to help you make your selections!

How much freezer space do I need?

For a Whole Beef, we recommend an 18-20 cubic foot freezer.
